However, the property would also be an ideal holiday home – the neighbours are very friendly and look after the property now in the absence of the owner.
Business or B&B potential – The house was used in the past as a B&B for four years, quite successfully appealing to a wide range of people including walkers and cyclists and during the summer months, the house was often at capacity.
Whilst these are old figures, it gives you an idea of what can be achieved – rooms were charged at €29 each and €9 for breakfast and €12 for dinner. A new tourism licence would be necessary but this could be a great way to supplement income.
There was even an honesty bar where guests just take what they want (beer, spirits, mixers, coke, etc.) and leave the money in the box. Often people overpaid and this can create a good profit.
With the two casitas, the house would also be a great way to accommodate friends or extended family. The wooden chalet is currently used as a gymnasium, but it could also be used as a bedroom/bathroom again, a workshop, an artist’s studio or as a home office.
The property is located close to Crevillent which has a wide range of shopping and recreational facilities as well as a great range of bars and restaurants.
There are 6 supermarkets, a 24hour medical centre, various pharmacies, schools, all major banks and a sports complex. The area is very popular with walkers and cyclists and there are some fantastic views and geological formations to be found in the local area.
Crevillent also has the 2nd largest Moors and Christians festival in Spain which is held in early October and this has now been recognised as an International Tourism event.
The area has not suffered from heavy tourism – visitors are welcomed rather than treated as a source of money and this bodes well for anyone living in the area. It means that mass tourism hasn’t spoiled the locals view of visitors and integration into the community is achievable.
The closest airport is Alicante with its huge range of destinations – just a 45/50min drive from the property.
